Multi Zone Christmas Conference and Dinner 12-15-2017

Today was our Christmas Conference and it was a very special day! Salt Lake gave instructions that the whole mission could not gather at once, so they did half of the zones today and half will be tomorrow.
As the young missionaries arrives, they were instructed to take off their shoes and put them into bins with their names on them.  After a nice opening exercises, the young missionaries went into the cultural hall and did a service project making toys for micro industries to sells. We senior couples went to another room and polished all of the shoes that the sisters and elders had deposited, about 100 pair!  President and Sister Stratford instructed us to let them know if any of the shoes were in bad shape, and I think that their idea is to give a little service and replace some of those shoes.
We then all divided into three groups, and rotated to three rooms to play Gospel Jeopardy, a fun charades game and musical chimes.
After that we gathered in the chapel where President Stratford spoke to us and told us a beautiful missionary experience about a baptism that took place last Saturday in a neighboring town in our stake. The woman who was baptized was taught by two missionaries 16 years ago but her family didn't approve so she joined another church. Well three darling sisters from our mission found her again and taught her and she now decided to be baptized! So the sister missionaries hunt down the two elders who taught her 16 years ago and they return to Ohio and baptize her!! Such a wonderful story!! It was even featured on mormon.org!
We then sang Christmas hymns and then were escorted singing into the cultural hall which had been decorated beautifully and we were served (not a buffet) a delicious turkey and all of the fixins dinner, all homemade.
Sister Russell, wife of one of the mission presidency was in charge of the day, and it was fabulous.  Of course many people helped and the Stratfords were integral, but I think she masterminded the whole day.
After dinner, we had the sweetest little nativity put on by local primary children, which was very tender, because it reminded me of the sweet nativities that our grandkids do each year!
Each of us had sent in some photos and some Elders put them all together in a video about what had happened in our mission this past year, the fun, the service and the spiritual events. They showed this video after the nativity. It was so cool!
Then, as a surprise, we had each sent in video clips telling the things that we appreciated and loved about President and Sister Stratford, and the assistants played that. They were totally surprised and moved to tears, it was wonderful!
We then each got to go through a reception line and greet the whole mission presidency and wives and just wish them merry Christmas and they gave us a gift of a Book of Mormon and a challenge, a Christmas ornament and a homemade dish cloth hand crotched by Sister Stratfords mother (with an accompanying poem)  for every missionary!  Wow!
It was so fun to see these wonderful and inspiring young men and women gather to celebrate the birth and life of the Savior whom they represent.  It truly was a sweet day to spend with these mazing youth, and know that their families are missing them and have shared them with us, the people of Ohio and the Lord for 18 or 24 months.

We are so blessed as missionaries!

Sister Missionaries Called to Serve in Coshocton! 12-14-2017

This week we said goodbye to the two wonderful Elders: LaFleur and Jones that have served here in Coshocton for the past several months.
BECAUSE

WE NOW GET SISTER MISSIONARIES!

The Elders were doubled out and sisters doubled in!
Sisters have not served here in Coshocton for many many years!
We are so happy to welcome Sister Hall and Sister Humphreys!
Sister Hall has been out for over a year and Sister Humphreys is fresh from the MTC.
Both are outstanding young women, with lots of enthusiasm, strong testimonies and are so excited to come to Coshocton to find those whom the Lord has prepared for them to teach!
We are so grateful they are here!

Christmas Cookies in Coshocton! 12-12-2017

Four our Relief Society this week we had a cookie exchange!  It was so fun! We each brought 7 dozen cookies packaged up and traded them.  I came home with 7 dozen of yummy treats that we will use for our 3 open houses coming up in the next few days.
We also played games and had  cider, treats and hot chocolate.
What a delightful way to share an evening with such wonderful sisters!

Our Coshocton Branch Christmas Dinner Party and Talent Show! December 9, 2017

Our Branch Christmas party was tonight and it was a delightful evening!
We, along with many members of our branch, had invited lots of people and were happy with the 46 that came!
Susan, one of the ladies that comes to our institute and finance class was asked to do the decorations and she was so happy to be included.  She has helped with  our Halloween party and is enjoying the new found "family" that she is finding with Rain her friend and other church members! She, Rain, the Loves and Sister Blanchard went to the Loves’ property and picked pine cones and pine boughs. Susan painted the pine cones and arranged everything beautifully on the tables with borrowed angels and nutcrackers; the room looked so nice!  Everyone complimented her on the beautiful job she did!
We began our gala at 4:00 and had a visit from Santa (thank you Brother Jacobs!) and the kids (and non-kids) enjoyed  sitting on his lap and telling what they wanted for Christmas. My request was a skype with our grandkids!   Then our Santa read from Luke about the birth of the Savior! Not your typical Santa for sure, and a great idea for everyone to hear!
We then had dinner, and what a spread!  Everyone brought yummy sides to go with roast beef, ham, baked potatoes and rolls!  What a feast! There was way more food than any branch could eat!

After dinner, was our talent show, and it turned out to be so much fun!  There were musical numbers (singing, harmonica and piano), demonstration of tying a tie blindfolded, story telling/readings, art and craft displays, dancing and tumbling!  We did a sing along of Marvelous Toy, a song that we used to sing with our kiddos! That was fun!
Paul also thanked everyone in the Branch for all they have done for us and welcoming us so warmly into the branch. We love it in Coshocton!

The finale was the nativity put on by the Primary and young women (we now have two wahoo!) and they did an incredible job with such a sweet spirit.  President and Sister Welker’s dog Squeak even came as the donkey.

We loved having two Klein families with us! We snapped pictures of Teri and Chip Klein, the mom and dad of all of these wonderful Klein families. We took another photo of Dustin and Amanda Klein’s family and their kids Ryann, Rileigh, Raegan and Briar, some of our favorite people ever! Each of the four kids performed, Ryann showed her art, Rileigh and her friend danced, Raegan did flips and Briar read a Christmas nativity story.  They are such an amazing family!  We are so happy when we are with them, we love them so much!

Our Christmas party was a fun way to bring people of different faiths together.
A great way to celebrate the birth of the Savior who we represent!
