Tonight was a very special
evening! Trey Gores and Jayden Smith, two of the three grandchildren that are
now living with Lu Ann Sims were baptized. Trey is 14 and Jayden is 9. Arayah, their sister is 11, but has chosen
not to be baptized at this time. Lu Ann has only been active since September
since she saw the notice in the newspaper that President and Sister Stratford
were coming to speak in our branch. Lu Ann is raising her three grandchildren.
Sisters Hall and Humpherys
began teaching them about two months ago and tonight was their big night! The
boys had helped plan the whole program, they chose the music, the speakers, who
would baptize and confirm them and the videos that would be shown after the
baptism while the fellows were getting dressed. Bob Cushman, Lu Ann’s boyfriend
even consented to sing “I Stand All Amazed”!
They were so excited
and well prepared. Our sisters did a
great job teaching them. President and Sister Stratford came, as well as
President Birch, which made it even more special for them. Also Sister Pead and
Sister Taylor (who had been in a car accident the previous week) were able to
come and even spoke when Brother Love got sick and was unable to give the talk
on baptism and holy Ghost.
Lu Ann’s ex-husband and
their son and grandson came from Millersburg and it was great to meet them! Elder Blanchard baptized Trey and Elder
Kimball, the District Leader performed Jayden’s baptism and his companion was the
witness.
About 20 people came and we had
nice refreshments.
There was a very sweet spirit
in the room tonight! We are so proud of these young men! They will be a great asset
to our branch!
Congratulations again to Trey and Jayden!
Wonderful! Loved the pictures, such happy faces from everyone
