Michael Bowermaster Gets Baptized! 3-17-2018

Mike has been investigating the church for about 3 years, and the Elders called him" an eternagator", or an eternal investigator! He had lots of trouble with the word of wisdom, mainly coffee and smoking.  He lives alone with his dog in a trailer and is kind of a loner but seemed somewhat receptive to the Gospel message.  The Elders taught him and taught him and didn’t see very much progress. He was pretty good about coming to church, and had to get a ride because he had lost his drivers license. So he came in the Pearce’s (he lives in Warsaw) and would stay until they finished with all of their responsibilities, which was often about 6-7 hours later!  Then when the sisters came, he seemed to turn a corner. I don’t think that they did much differently than the Elders, but he finally found the willpower to stop smoking and give up coffee.
He was interviewed by President Jacobs, President Stratford and they said that yes, he was ready and worthy to be baptized, which was wonderful news! He was quite excited!
He was baptized on St. Patrick’s day and it was a very nice service.  He asked Elder LaFleur to return and baptize him, which he did. We bought him a white shirt and Paul gave him a few ties and President Jacobs bought him a pair of dress pants.
He cut his hair and looked so nice!
Paul spent most of the day filling the font and setting up chairs.  He also conducted the service. Kim prepared the program, the video presentation and led the music as well as helped make the refreshments which we served afterward. Sisters Hall and Wolfe, Elders Cobabe, Jones and Cox also came back to attend. President and Sister Stratford, President Birch and the Alldredges also came which was so nice.
It was one of the most spiritual baptisms that we have ever attended!  He will be a great asset to our branch!  He loves studying the scriptures and calls us and the sisters all the time for pronunciation, observations and insights!
What a blessing the Gospel is to help make good men better!

Trey Goes to the Temple! 3-16-2018

We had a remarkable experience yesterday going with Trey Gores to the temple! He was baptized three weeks ago and has been researching family names on Family Search.  Since he is only 13 he does not have a long line of deceased relatives, BUT his dad died when he was 4 years old and he really wanted to do his baptism.  So, his grandma LuAnn Sims helped him put his info into a Family Search account, put his dad’s name in and printed it out.  Sister Blanchard  then helped do some more research and was able to print out his father’s father, his grandfather Gores and he did the baptism for him as well.
And one of the neat things is that the whole family went to the temple yesterday and waited in the lobby while he was in the temple.  Sisters Humpherys, Pead, Paul and Kim went into the temple and Paul performed the baptisms.  It was a pretty neat thing and several temple officiators came in to watch.  The significance of that event was very touching, Brother Love has told us that he has felt Trey’s dad present when they have had their Sunday school lessons! Celebrations from the other side of the veil for sure!
So, in the lobby was Bob Cushman, LuAnn’s boyfriend (nonmember) Arayah (nonmember) Jayden and LuAnn, both members.  So cool!

We went to dinner together before  and afterward we celebrated by stopping by  for Graeter's ice cream, an Ohio favorite!
What a very special special evening!

The Coshocton Games! 3-10-2018

We had a very successful Coshocton games, a missionary sponsored branch activity! We had several guests attend and we all had a blast! With fast paced Olympic themed  minute to win it games, goofy competitions with lots of medals, ribbons treats and prizes and  it was a huge hit! The 13 people that came had a blast! Chip and Terri Klein came, which was fabulous! Megan Miller, her daughter Heaven and Sam.
Sister Blanchard had planned the whole thing, gathered all of the materials for the games, made the decorations and invitations and then that evening the Sisters helped put on the games, President Jacobs was the MC, and Paul was the timer and Sister Blanchard kept score. Even though Sister Blanchard was not feeling great, by a miracle was able to attend and enjoyed every minute!   It was a very fun evening!
